The first step to learn HTML

It is necessary to learn basic HTML if you want to build your own website. HTML is a computer language; its name is Hyper Text Markup Language. HTML is a very simple language and is quite easy to learn. Just keep in mind that it's simply a series of letters that are abbreviations of what they actually stand for. Its tags come in certain order.

See what a basic HTML will look like:

<html>

<head>

<title>A Simple Web Page </title>

<meta >

</head>

<body>

This is the contents of your website; you can put your story, picture, links and anything else here.

</body>

</html>

Here,

<html>…</html> - Stands for the beginning and end of your page.

<head>…</head>- Stands for the header for your document. You can add important document information such as keywords, language, and descriptions etc.

<body>…<body>- Stand for the body of your document. Everything you want to present on your website can be inserted here.

<title>…</title> - Stands for the title of the document.

That is to say, HTML uses a system of "tags" to record instructions on how the page should be displayed.
Just see more tags which will help to enrich your webpage.

<p></p> : Beginning and end of a paragraph (puts a space between paragraphs).

<br> : Single line break.

<b></b> : Bold text.

<i></i> : Italics.

<center></center> : Centre everything between these tags (note the American spelling).

<hr> : Horizontal line.

Thus, you will have a general idea of what a html is. The next step we will learn how to use HTML tags in details.
